  Lack of internal accountability procedures and partisanship allow MPs in Iraq, Jordan and Gaza toabuse their status and lack of accountability to increase their fortunes or to buy popular support.

Moderators

Bissane El Cheikh / Lebanon

Bissane El-Cheikh is a journalist and writer with Al-Hayat newspaper since 2001. Based in Beirut, her main focus is field reporting and investigative journalism both in her home country Lebanon, and the Middle East. She has been reporting from war zones in Lebanon, Iraq and Syria and conducted special reports from Iran, Tunisia, Turkey, Guantanamo Bay, among other places. She is the editor of the "youth" weekly supplement, which tackles major political, educational and general life style trends in the Arab world. El-Cheikh is a media trainer and coach with international organizations such as IWPR, Internews, ARIJ and the American University of Beirut (AUB). As a visiting scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Centre for Scholars in Washington D.C (2008), she worked on the "Radicalization of the second-generation of Muslim immigrants to the US".
